Riley’s Arrowhead Inn

Riverdale Avenue and West 236th Street

Riley’s Arrowhead Inn, nestled at the bustling intersection of Riverdale Avenue and West 236th Street, was a renowned speakeasy during the era of Prohibition. Known for its lively atmosphere, the establishment boasted fair music and splendid dishes, particularly its delectable frogs’ legs. However, not all the patrons were as charming as the ambiance and cuisine. Despite this, Riley’s Arrowhead Inn remained a popular destination, especially during events like the Radio Carnival Benefit organized by the Newspaper Club Relief Fund. Under the proprietorship of Ben Riley, the inn became a hotspot for entertainment, featuring 33 beloved radio stars performing live. Guests could indulge in an evening of supper, dancing, and the chance to witness their favorite radio personalities up close. Tickets were priced at $5.00, and the collaboration with Joe Leblang’s further elevated the inn’s reputation as a premier destination for entertainment and good times.
